Enjoy free admission, refreshments and more as we invite you to join our annual Christmas Open House. The Fitzgeralds' enjoyed a unique Christmas within the Felder home, blocking off a diorama that they built for Scottie that featured various civilizations and events across the world.
Join us as we talk about Scott & Zelda's only daughter, and child of the Jazz Age, Scottie Fitzgerald in our inaugural celebration. We'll be highlighting the various locations in which she was raised, her attempt to save her mother's childhood home and the last decade of her life here in Montgomery.
Monroe County Museum will host Dr. Alaina Doten, historian and curator of the F. Scott; Zelda Fitzgerald Museum in Montgomery, for the program “Zelda in Alabama” at 6:00 pm on Thursday, September 13. Dr. Doten will present a slideshow of photographs and images celebrating the time spent by the Fitzgeralds in Montgomery, writing portions of their respective novels Save Me the Waltz and Tender is the Night.
Biscuits and peaches will be served as part of the refreshments in honor of Zelda.
Free and open to the public.
Every year, the F. Scott & Zelda Fitzgerald Museum hosts two annual writing competitions, Poetry & Short Story, in an effort to encourage writers of all ages to carry on the literary legacy of Scott & Zelda Fitzgerald.
Submission and Guidelines will be posted on the website on August 25th and submissions will be accepted from September 1st through December 31st.
The Literary Contest will be judged by a panel of writers and creatives. Award announcements will be made on March 15, 2019.
